Study R01

Planned

Measurement and recovery cycle

When should a formaldehyde estimate be reported, and how much recovery time is needed before the next measurement?

Method
Dynamic modeling & classical machine learning
Summary updated

Why this study

Examine how reporting decisions and recovery between measurements affect the next formaldehyde estimate. The comparison would inform the measurement cycle used in prototype development.

Proposed approach

  1. Model the measurement and recovery cycle, including sensor memory from previous measurements.

  2. Compare reporting and recovery choices using dynamic modeling and classical machine learning.

  3. Evaluate estimation error, false positives, cycle time, and purge-air use.

Intended output

Compare estimation error, false positives, cycle time, and purge-air use, accounting for sensor memory from previous measurements.

Model predictions will need experimental verification under the intended operating conditions.
